Current
Defendable is an Oslo-based cyber security company focused on making organizations defendable in practice, not just compliant on paper. The work sits close to real incidents and real systems: monitoring, advisory work, incident handling, and security testing.
My security experience covers pentesting, application security, security operations, incident management, digital forensics, and cyber threat intelligence.
Natteravnene is a politically and religiously neutral volunteer organization active in Norway since 1990. Adult volunteers walk visible rounds in local communities in the evening and at night, with the aim of making public spaces safer through presence, contact, care, and practical help.
Basefarm
Basefarm was a Norwegian managed services and hosting company serving mission-critical business applications. The work combined infrastructure operations, application operations, security, customer-facing reliability work, and the discipline needed when customers depend on systems being available around the clock.
In operations, I also worked on developing people: creating a path for apprentices who were ready for real operations work, and helping them move into responsibility earlier than a standard helpdesk route would usually allow.
Basefarm later became part of Orange Business. The current Orange Business portfolio gives some context for that world: digital infrastructure, cloud, operational experience, security, and managed enterprise services.
Community
NUUG, the Norwegian UNIX User Group, is a non-commercial association for companies and individuals working to promote Unix-like systems, free software, and open standards in Norway. My role covered board work and leadership in a technical community with long roots in Norwegian Internet and free-software culture.
While serving as NUUG leader, I was part of the lawsuit NUUG ran against Økokrim's seizure of the popcorn.no domain name. The site contained no pirated material and no software for piracy, only instructions. NUUG lost the case in the end.
Current board leader and co-founder of Hackeriet, a community-operated hackerspace in Oslo where people meet to work on software, networks, art, hardware, and shared technical projects. Earlier board service included serving as treasurer from 2011 to 2015.
Åpen kanal was about public access to television: an infrastructure where people and organizations could publish under their own editorial responsibility. The idea was tied to democracy, free expression, and giving smaller voices access to broadcast media.
Involved in creating Wikimedia Norge and served on the control committee, including two periods as committee leader. Wikimedia Norge supports contributors to Wikipedia and other Wikimedia projects, works with institutions, and promotes free knowledge sharing in Norwegian Bokmål, Nynorsk, and Northern Sami. One of my early Wikipedia Bokmål projects was a script that matched geotagged articles with pages marked as missing images, then turned that into printed lists of places to visit, photograph, and publish back to Wikipedia. That work led to many images uploaded to Wikimedia Commons; my old Bokmål user page keeps a gallery of some of them, including public-reference images useful for Norwegian articles. A conservative Commons API check found 176 distinct file titles in my upload log, with 154 of them used somewhere across Wikimedia projects and more than 1,100 sampled cross-wiki uses. One of the most widely used is my North Atlantic salmon photo.
Earlier
Sykehuspartner delivers ICT, project, logistics, and HR services to all hospitals in Helse Sør-Øst. My role involved first and second line support by phone and in the field, 24/7 open phone coverage, monitoring, night and weekend operations management, and service for Oslo hospitals.
Healthcare IT taught me what severity means when systems matter: a priority-one incident was either a major outage or a patient-safety risk.
Bislet Limousine is an Oslo chauffeur-car company with roots back to 1969, known for exclusive vehicles, VIP-standard transport, business travel, and sightseeing. My chauffeur work ranged from diplomats and bank directors to sightseeing and excursions. The job required discretion, punctuality, route knowledge, and high service standards across very different client situations.
Niscayah was a security systems company working with systems such as access control, video surveillance, intrusion protection, and fire alarm systems. My work involved installing and servicing automated intrusion alarm systems, access control systems, and surveillance systems.
Worked as a doorman in Jessheim and Oslo, across different venues rather than as a regular at one place, including calm solo posts and better-known city venues such as The Dubliner. I also did freelance event security for Russ events in the Lørenskog/Lillestrøm area.
The work suited my preference for preventing trouble early: reading rooms, handling small issues before they escalated, enforcing alcohol regulations, and keeping people safe without making situations larger than they needed to be.
Civilian service in Norway was an alternative to military service for conscientious objectors. The system was abolished in 2012, but at the time it placed civilian conscripts in socially useful work such as care, schools, and non-profit organizations.
VOKT was one of the civilian-service cooperation projects, a peer-support and prevention scheme at youth schools. My placement was violence-preventive work at Jordal youth school in Oslo: combating drug sales and violence on premises, supporting pupils, and leading by example.
At the time, Jordal was covered in national news as a school dealing with violence, drug sales, and a difficult youth environment. I spent my civilian service there as a visible adult in the school day and around the neighbourhood: walking the halls, helping keep the building safe, accompanying pupils when needed, joining class trips, and working alongside teachers, outreach workers, and police when situations required it. It was wide-ranging work, and valuable to me on a human level because it was built on presence, trust, and showing up consistently.
Projects
Made the website for BSides events in Norway, gathering information-security events made by and for the security community.
Part of the local community effort around Bikuben Barnepark, a neighbourhood park in Høybråten where the association works to keep the park open, green, safe, and useful for people nearby.
